Mountain West Football has returned to Las Vegas for its 2025 Old Trapper Mountain West Media Day, held once again at the Circa Casino. All 12 Mountain West football coaches participated in this event, discussing the upcoming season set to kick off in August. The two-day event features media interactions, with two players from each program participating on the first day and the coaches taking center stage on the second and final day.
A major highlight for the Mountain West heading into the new season is UNLV Rebels head coach Dan Mullen. Coach Mullen spoke to the media early this morning about the upcoming season. After taking 4 years off from being a head coach, he is excited to go from SEC media days, to Mountain West media days.
Dan talks about NIL being valuable in Vegas:
During his press conference, Dan covered a range of topics, including his experiences with ESPN, his enthusiasm for the new season, and his favorite places to eat and visit in Las Vegas. One significant point he made was about the opportunities presented by Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deals for the city of Las Vegas. He emphasized that given the city’s many business investments from casinos and high-end companies, UNLV should act with urgency to secure financial support to strengthen its football program.
Mullen on new UNLV traditions:
Dan briefly shared his experiences with various stadium traditions from his time in the SEC. He reminisced about the atmosphere at Virginia Tech, where fans jump up and down as “Enter Sandman” by Metallica plays. He mentioned “Calling the Hogs” at Arkansas, the cowbell tradition at Mississippi State, and the Gator chop while coaching at Florida.
This insight prompted a question about what unique traditions he might bring to Allegiant Stadium on game days. Here’s what he had to say:
Boise State head coach on UNLV Football and Ashton Jeanty:

With Boise State beating UNLV in back to back Mountain west championships, UNLV looks to get there first Mountain West title this season with a brand new squad. Boise State head coach Spencer Danielson touches on UNLV Football and his Heisman candidate running back being drafted by the Raiders.
