PFL Women’s lightweight champion Pacheco makes her featherweight debut against Budd

The Professional Fighters League, the fastest growing and most innovative sports league, keeps their 2023 Regular Season going with PFL 2, featuring the Women’s Featherweight and Heavyweight divisions. In the main event, 2022 PFL Women’s Lightweight Champion Larissa Pacheco of Brazil faces Julia “The Jewel” Budd of Canada in a Women’s Featherweight contest.

Pacheco, who weighed in at 146.0-pounds, shocked the world last season when she became the first woman to defeat two-time PFL champion Kayla Harrison. This season, Pacheco plans on returning to the top of the mountain, this time in a new weight division. Budd, who weighed in at 145.6-pounds, continues to pursue PFL gold.

The mixed martial arts pioneer enters the SmartCage for the fourth time in search of her first regular season win.

In the co-main event, 2021 PFL Heavyweight Champion Bruno Cappelozza and Matheus “Buffa” Scheffel will collide in a rematch between Brazilian heavyweights. Cappelozza, who weighed in at 240.8-pounds qualified for the 2022 PFL Playoffs, but was sidelined due to injury. Scheffel, meanwhile, weighed in at 258.0-pounds. Last season’s heavyweight runner-up will look to prove he is the League’s best Brazilian heavyweight.

Also on the card, 2022 semifinalist Olena “Cannon” Kolesnyk of Ukraine meets American Aspen Ladd. Kolesnyk, who weighed in at 146.4-pounds, enters her third PFL season looking to return to the PFL Playoffs. Kolesnyk missed weight by .4 lbs and will forfeit 20% of her purse. She will also be docked one point, starting the season with negative one points in the Women’s Featherweight Division. Meanwhile, Ladd weighed in at 145.6-pounds. One of the PFL’s big-name signings of the offseason, Ladd will be making her PFL Regular Season debut.

Kicking off the ESPN2 card is a featured Lightweight amateur bout between Biaggio Ali Walsh and Isaiah “El Guerro Loco” Figueroa. Ali Walsh weighed in at 155.4-pounds for his second appearance inside the PFL SmartCage. The grandson of boxing legend Muhammad Ali, Ali Walsh made his PFL debut last year, winning by first round knockout. Figueroa, meanwhile, weighed in at 155.6-pounds for his second amateur contest. After recording his first win by TKO, Figueroa has his sights set on taking down one of the biggest names in the League.
