
The Las Vegas Aces made switches to their roster and had players earn multiple awards and opportunities to end the month of June.
The Aces made a trade for NaLyssa Smith, the 2022 WNBA All-Rookie selection and 2019 NCAA Champion out of Baylor University. Head coach Becky Hammon exchanged the team’s first-round pick in the 2027 WNBA Draft to the Dallas Wings for Smith. With the trade, Hammon waived Liz Kitley and Tiffany Mitchell.
Smith is a 6’4″ forward. In four years of the WNBA, she has averaged 12.0 points and 7.5 rebounds while shooting 45.5% from the floor.
The veteran Aces have been proving their worth on the court. A’ja Wilson was named a 2025 WNBA All-Star Starter. This is the sixth time in her career that she has earned the honor and the seventh time competing in the All-Star Game. The 2025 AT&T All-Star Game will be on July 19 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
Wilson was also named the Western Conference Player of the Week for June 23-29. This is her 24th time earning a Player of the Week award. She is tied with Elena Delle Donne for the third-most such honors in WNBA history. During the week, Wilson averaged 23.3 points, 10.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 2.7 blocks and 2.0 steals while shooting 43.5% from the floor. On June 25, she became the fastest player in league history to record 5,000 career points. She achieved this stat in 238 games.
On July 4, Hammon waived 6’3″ forward Joyner Holmes. She played in six games and averaged 1.2 points and 1.0 rebounds.
Jackie Young was named a 2025 WNBA All-Star reserve on July 6. This marks her fourth consecutive WNBA All-Star Game.
Las Vegas sits eighth in the league with a 9-9 overall record as of July 6. The Aces are fifth in the Western Conference.
