
After back-to-back wins against the Golden State Valkyries, the Las Vegas Aces hosted the Seattle Storm. Looking for their second three-win run of the season, the Aces succeeded, beating the Storm 90-86.
A’ja Wilson got the Aces on the board first with a pull-up jump shot. It was a back-and-forth first quarter with six lead changes. Las Vegas pulled ahead after Jackie Young, Chelsea Gray and Jewell Loyd each sank a three-pointer, ending the quarter 23-17.
Fouls and a lost ball let the Storm tie the game at 23 apiece to start the second quarter. The Aces didn’t let Seattle gain a lead the rest of the quarter. Wilson made the only three-pointer for the Aces in the 10 minutes and accumulated nine points. Las Vegas led 47-36 going into the half.
It was a slow start for each team in the third quarter. Gray started the team’s fire with a shot behind the arc. The Aces gained a 19-point lead with three minutes left in the quarter, but went on a two-minute scoring drought, decreasing their lead to 11 points. The Storm’s consistency on offense tightened the game to 63-71.
The Aces were fighting to make a shot early in the fourth quarter after multiple misses and fouls. The Storm tied the game 75-75 with five minutes remaining. Young’s 4-for-4 in free throws and three-pointer sparked the Aces to get on a roll. Las Vegas was able to take and hold the lead to win the game 90-86.
Both Wilson and Nalyssa Smith recorded double-doubles. Wilson had 29 points and 12 rebounds. Smith had 10 points and 12 rebounds. Overall, the team shot 44.9% from the field and 45.5% from the arc.
