LAS VEGAS, NV. — In a thrilling rematch, Mikaela Mayer emerged victorious against Sandy Ryan, winning by unanimous decision at the BleauLive Theater at the Fontainebleau Hotel and Casino. The highly anticipated bout lived up to expectations, with both fighters showcasing their exceptional skills and determination. Mayer’s strategic approach and relentless pressure ultimately paid off, as she outboxed Ryan over the course of ten rounds.
According to Compubox statistics, Mayer dominated the action in the rematch, landing an average of 18 out of 56 punches per round, compared to Ryan’s 13 out of 32.
Mayer’s power punching proved effective, with 44% of her shots finding their mark, including 55 body shots. Ryan, on the other hand, landed 42% of her power shots but was outworked by Mayer’s consistent output.
A key factor in Mayer’s victory was her strong performance in the early rounds, where she scored more points than Ryan in the first six rounds, ultimately securing her victory.
Mikaela Mayer said earlier in the week that she planned to “knock off Sandy Ryan’s head” at the press conference. Mayer delivered on that statement, throwing a total of 122 combinations to Ryan’s head and body, per Compubox.
Despite Mayer suffering an unintentional headbutt in the eighth round that bloodied her eyes, she remained focused against a resilient Sandy Ryan, who became more aggressive in the final four rounds. Ryan took some tough uppercuts to the chin and went punch-for-punch with Mikaela.
