As the Las Vegas Raiders gear up for the final two games of the 2022 season, they have some difficult decisions to make on personnel. Raiders Head Coach Josh McDaniels announced that backup QB Jared Stidham would be named the starter for the remainder of the season, ending Derek Carr’s tenure as the Raiders starting quarterback as they plan to evaluate Stidham. It should be noted that Carr also has a clause in his contract that if injured his 2023 contract becomes fully guaranteed.
Starters Denzel Perryman and Chandler Jones have been very effective this season, and both suffered season-ending injuries and have been placed on the injured reserve list. In a corresponding move, the Raiders have signed defensive end Issac Rochell and linebacker Harvey Langi to the 53 man roster. Rochell, a 9 year veteran has played for the Chargers, Colts and most recently the Browns and has amassed 9.5 sacks and 1 interception in his career. Langi, a 5 year veteran has played for the Patriots, Jets and Broncos and has 66 tackles in 10 starts.
The Raiders have also made two changes to the practice squad adding defensive tackle Trent Harris and offensive lineman Vitaliy Gurman and have released wide receiver Albert Wilson.
