
After going 1-1 in Oklahoma City, the Las Vegas Aviators hosted the Comets at home for the last four games of the series. In game three on July 3, Las Vegas lost 9-5. The crowd was packed with 11,020 fans, making it the 6th sellout this season.
Ken Waldichuk started on the mound for Las Vegas. He struck out two, leaving two runners on base. Tyler Glasnow took the mound for the Comets. Nick Martini and Miguel Andujar singled to put the Aviators in action, but were left on base.
The Aviators adjusted the lineup in the second inning when Brett Harris was ejected from the game by the home plate umpire after striking out in the bottom of the first. Logan Davidson took his spot at second base and fifth in the lineup.
The offense fired up for Las Vegas in the bottom of the third. Martini and Andujar singled on one out. Carlos Cortes blasted a homer to right field to put the Aviators on the board 3-0. The Aviators put in Carlos Duran to start the fourth inning. The Comets came back to tie the game 3-3 on a sac fly, stolen base and RBI single.
Las Vegas replaced Duran with Joey Estes in the fifth inning. Ryan Ward hit a three-run homer to put the Comets ahead 6-3. Garrett McDaniels replaced Glasnow for the Comets. JJ Bleday hit a solo homer to right-center field in the bottom of the sixth to make the score 4-6.
Alexis Díaz took the mound for the Comets in the bottom of the seventh. After walking two batters, Julian Fernández replaced Díaz. Bleday hit an RBI double, scoring one run on two outs. Las Vegas made it a 5-6 game.
The Aviators put Scott McGough on the mound in the top of the eighth. The Comets scored three runs off of McGough in the top of the ninth when Hunter Feduccia hit a three-run homer.
Las Vegas had nine hits and five RBIs overall. The Comets had nine hits and eight RBIs.
