As of June 9, 2025, the Las Vegas Aviators are the No. 1 team in the Pacific Coast League. The Aviators have held first place since Sunday, May 11. Las Vegas has been head-to-head for the first-place spot with one specific team throughout the season.

The Pacific Coast League is split up between East and West divisions. In the image above, both division’s teams are included. The Aviators are part of the West division, including the Reno Aces, Sacramento River Cats, Salt Lake Bees and Tacoma Rainiers. The Oklahoma City Comets, Sugar Land Space Cowboys, El Paso Chihuahuas, Round Rock Express and Albuquerque Isotopes are part of the East division.
Las Vegas has sat comfortably at the top for most of the season. The Aviators originally landed first place on March 29 in a three-way tie. The first time Las Vegas was in first without a tie was on April 15. The team’s biggest competition? Oklahoma City. The Comets were the No. 1 team from April 3-5, April 10-12 and April 22-May 2. The Comets tied the Aviators for first place on May 3 and May 10. Although, the Aviators claimed the top position back on May 11.
So, what is the record between the Aviators and Comets so far? The teams played each other from May 27- June 1. Las Vegas fell 2-4 in the series at home. They will have a chance to come back in the next six-game series against the Comets from July 1-6. It’s a split series with games 1-3 at home and 4-6 in Oklahoma City.
Now, let’s look at the players leading the Aviators to success. Colby Thomas is the No. 4 hitter in the Pacific Coast League, based on home runs, as of June 9. He’s played in 58 games and recorded 75 hits, 50 runs, 15 home runs and 52 RBIs. Thomas has a .306 batting average. When looking at the best batting averages in the league, the Aviators hold the top spot. Drew Avans has a .328 average with 62 hits, four home runs and 34 RBIs. No matter what stat you choose to base the best player on, the Aviators have at least one player in the top seven in each category.
For pitching, Jack Cushing leads the team 5-1 so far this season. Jake Walkinshaw is right behind with a 4-2 record.
Las Vegas is back home from June 10-15. The men will face the Salt Lake Bees for the first time this season. The Aviators are coming off a 4-2 series win over the Tacoma Rainiers from June 3-8. The Bees went 3-3 in their series against Round Rock on those same days.
