The Las Vegas Aces made history in their Thursday night victory over the Minnesota Lynx. The women set a franchise-best 13-game win streak after a 97-87 victory inside T-Mobile Arena.

The Las Vegas Aces entered the game 26-14 overall, and the Lynx 32-8 overall. Earlier this week, Becky Hammon was named the WNBA Coach of the Month for August 2025. This marked her fourth Coach of the Month award. A’ja Wilson was named the WNBA Western Conference Player of the Month for August. She has now won the award 13 times in her career. In August, she averaged a league-high 25.5 points on 49.8% field goal shooting.

Wilson tallied a game-high 31 points, eight rebounds, two assists and two blocks against the Lynx on Sept. 4. Jackie Young was right behind with 20 points and four made three-pointers. Chelsea Gray recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 assists.

Minnesota was quick on offense, taking shots early on the clock to sink threes. The Lynx connected on 4 of 7 three-pointers in the first quarter. The downfall of this strategy? A missed three and unsuccessful rebounds gave Las Vegas the opportunity to catch up with two-pointers. The Aces were trapped on offense, securing most of their points inside the box. Jewell Loyd made the first three-pointer for the Aces with 4:31 remaining to take a 17-16 lead. Las Vegas held the lead to end the quarter 26-24.

Shooting was off for both teams at the start of the second quarter compared to the first. It was back and forth until the Aces gained a four-point lead after Aaliyah Nye’s three-pointer at 4:58. Wilson finished the first half with a game-high 17 points. Young was right behind with 12 points. She led the team with two made three-pointers. The Aces had a 47-44 lead going into the third quarter.

Minnesota tied the game at 49-49 and fell behind from there. Kierstan Bell made her first three-pointer of the game to get the Aces rocking. A Lynx foul allowed Wilson to make two free throws. Loyd and Young made back-to-back threes to extend the Aces’ lead to eight points, 63-55. The women went on a 2:23-minute scoring drought, allowing the Lynx to come within one point of them at 63-62. A last-minute three by Young and a layup by Gray pulled the Aces ahead 70-66 to end the quarter.

Las Vegas went on a scoring run to start the fourth quarter while the Lynx didn’t make a basket until the 2:31 mark. The Aces secured their biggest lead of the game at 10 points, 76-66. They later extended that to 13 points at 4:43 with a score of 85-72. At this point, the Lynx had only made two shots in the quarter. Minnesota took a timeout and came back with a more consistent offense. However, it wasn’t enough to get a lead. The Aces won 97-87.

Las Vegas hosts the Chicago Sky on Sunday, Sept. 7, at 6 pm PT.
