Ashton Jeanty and Boise State hands UNLV football toughest loss of the season

UNLV Football (6-1) and the Boise State Broncos (5-1) are set to play one of the most important games of the season at Allegiant Stadium under the Friday night lights. The Rebels are coming off a significant victory against the Oregon State Beavers, defeating them 33-25. This win marked a historic achievement for the Rebels, as they became bowl eligible for the first time in back-to-back years.

The Broncos, having had a bye week, come into this game with two weeks to prepare for the Rebels. Boise State’s last win was against Hawai’i, where they triumphed over the Rainbow Warriors with a score of 28-7. A standout player this season for Boise State is Heisman candidate Ashton Jeanty, who leads the nation in rushing yards with 1,248. He has scored 17 total touchdowns and is averaging an impressive 9.2 yards per carry—nearly a first down every time he has the ball.

For comparison, some all-time great college running backs had the following stats through their first five games: Derrick Henry had 570 yards, and Reggie Bush had 610 yards. Jeanty is on pace to break the all-time rushing record held by Barry Sanders at Oklahoma State, which is 2,628 yards.

The game was just as advertised, as both teams fought hard in a fantastic environment at Allegiant Stadium.
