Vegas Takes Center Stage: Golden Knights & UNLV Deliver on a Packed Sports Day

Las Vegas was buzzing with sports on Saturday, October 10, as the city delivered a packed day of competition across two of its biggest teams. The action began at Allegiant Stadium, where UNLV football welcomed North Dakota State for a hard-fought Mountain West matchup before the spotlight shifted to T-Mobile Arena for a Pacific Division showdown between the Vegas Golden Knights and Los Angeles Kings. From the gridiron to the ice, it was another reminder of how Las Vegas has evolved beyond its reputation as the Entertainment Capital of the World and into a destination where professional and collegiate sports share center stage.

At Allegiant Stadium, the Rebels delivered a defensive statement, defeating previously undefeated North Dakota State 13-7 in front of 33,516 fans. UNLV took an early lead when Andre Porter returned an interception 23 yards for a touchdown, and after the Bison tied the game at 7-7 before halftime, the Rebels shut them out over the final two quarters. Ramon Villela connected on two second-half field goals, while Jai’Den Thomas rushed for 112 yards on 22 carries. The victory moved UNLV to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in Mountain West play, handing North Dakota State its first loss of the season.

The excitement continued at T-Mobile Arena, where the Golden Knights battled the Kings in a tight contest that required overtime to settle. Trevor Connelly opened the scoring for Vegas in the second period, recording a goal and an assist for his first multi-point game in the NHL. Los Angeles responded through Artemi Panarin, tying the game at 1-1, but Mitch Marner delivered the decisive moment with a power-play goal at 2:40 of overtime. Carter Hart stopped 26 shots as Vegas secured a 2-1 victory, extending its winning streak to four games and improving its record to 5-1-0.
