UNLV senior defensive end Elijah Shelton was named preseason First Team All-Mountain West by PFF to lead a group of Rebels honored by the national football website.
Shelton, who transferred to UNLV after previously attending both Utah State and Utah, started nine of his 11 games for the Rebels in 2022 and ranked ninth on the team with 44 total tackles and fifth with 5.5 tackles-for-loss to go with two QB sacks. At Hawai’i, he picked up a fumble and returned it three yards for a touchdown before forcing and recovering another fumble against the Rainbow Warriors.
Quarterback Doug Brumfield and wide receiver Ricky White were on the PFF Second Team and offensive lineman Amani Trigg-Wright was a member of the Third Team.
In addition, both White (Second Team) and Brumfield (Third Team) were selected by the Mountain West Wire along with DB Ricky Johnson (Third Team), DB Cameron Oliver (Fourth Team) and punter Marshall Nichols (Fourth Team).
UNLV players report for preseason camp August 3 and the 2023 season kicks off at 1 p.m. on September 2 with a visit to Allegiant Stadium by Bryant University.
