The College Basketball Crown champion has been throned. The Nebraska Huskers men’s basketball team beat the UCF Knights 77-66 and won the grand prize of $500k on Sunday, April 6, inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
The Huskers got up to a 12-point lead at the beginning of the first half. The team scored 13 points in three minutes, while the Knights only scored four. UCF made a comeback with nine points in four minutes to tie the game at 35-35 going into halftime.
UCF ruled the start of the second half. The men got a 14-point lead when Nebraska kept missing shots and losing the ball. The Huskers got their first points at 14:36. From there, they had an 11-0 run. The game tied at 52-52 at 11:04. Nebraska got ahead when UCF had an almost five-minute scoring drought. The closest the Knights were able to get to the Huskers was four points at 6:12. Nebraska’s shooting stayed consistent to finish out the game with an 11-point win, 77-66.
Three-pointers were the main difference between the two teams. Nebraska shot 43% 3FG while the Knights only shot 24% 3FG. Three Huskers shot in double digits: Brice Williams (21), Connor Essegian (21) and Juwan Gary (20). Jordan Ivy-Curry led UCF with 29 points.
