Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz opens up about 2025 contract situation before Imola race

There is no more desired job in Formula One, or maybe any motorsport in the world, than to be inside a Ferrari F1 car. It’s the crown jewel of the motorsport world, despite what anyone tells you. So, while Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz may have the perfect job in 2024, he won’t in 2025.

Sainz, who had a stint with McLaren during some challenging times, was then picked up by the prestigious Ferrari. However, his future with the team is now uncertain, as Ferrari has recently signed Lewis Hamilton for the 2025 season and beyond. This leaves Sainz on the outside, looking in.

Hamilton, a driver widely acclaimed as the best of all time, is moving from Mercedes, which opens up a seat there. This sets the stage for a competitive 2025 season, with Sainz having options like Mercedes, Red Bull, Haas, Audi, and others. The anticipation is high, and Sainz is currently enjoying his time in the spotlight.

“It cannot get any better! A Ferrari driver in Imola with hopefully a bit of a step coming in the car this weekend. Life’s good. I can’t complain,” Sainz said during the pre-race weekend press conference.

But when asked about his contract situation, he kept it pretty real and authentic.

“When I have it, you’ll know… It’s not moving too quick.”

Sainz, a Grand Prix winner in 2024 at Melbourne, shouldn’t have an issue finding a seat. However, it’s now about where and when it happens. For now, Ferrari is trying to make a push in both the drivers’ and constructors’ championships.
