As the Athletics opened their season in Seattle last night, they showcased patches representing both Sacramento and Las Vegas on their sleeves. Luis Severino took the mound for his debut with the Athletics, delivering an impressive performance. He held Seattle scoreless over six innings, recording six strikeouts while allowing only three hits and four walks. Severino was replaced by Jose LeClerc, who struggled in the final three innings, giving up four runs. As a result, Seattle secured a victory in their home opener.

Offensively, Tyler Soderstrom stood out with two solo home runs in the 5th and 8th innings, accounting for all of the A’s scoring. With this achievement, Soderstrom became the third player in Athletics’ history to hit multiple home runs on Opening Day, joining Khris Davis and Jason Giambi in this notable feat. The team looks to rebound tonight, aiming to even the series and secure their first win of the season.

This loss marked the Athletics’ fourth Opening Day defeat in the past five seasons.
