The Golden Knights are looking to return to winning hockey after their recent loss to the New York Islanders this past Saturday, where they fell 4-0. They will be facing a team that is only 33 minutes away from the Islanders: the New York Rangers. The Rangers are coming off a 3-2 overtime victory at Madison Square Garden against their long-time rivals, the New Jersey Devils.
Following their loss to the Islanders, the Golden Knights dropped from first place in the NHL standings. Both the Winnipeg Jets and the Washington Capitals now have 61 points, while the Knights sit at 59 points. It’s worth noting that the Capitals have played two more games, and the Jets have played three more than the Knights. Despite having a solid record this season, the Knights have struggled against Eastern Conference teams, with a record of 6-7-1 against them.
The New York Rangers have been struggling this season as well, currently sitting seven points out of a playoff spot. However, they welcome back their star goalie, Igor Shesterkin, who missed four games due to an upper body injury and returned on Thursday against the Devils.
In their last game, the Golden Knights faced a goalie who seemed to stop everything, and it felt like they encountered a similar situation in tonight’s matchup.
