LAS VEGAS — For many fans attending EVO, the world’s largest fighting game tournament, the excitement goes beyond the competition. It’s also an opportunity to explore careers in the rapidly growing esports and gaming industry.
An EVO spokesperson explained that there are several ways for people to break into the business, whether they want to work behind the scenes, develop games, or build a career creating content.
One of the first opportunities is through RTS, the company that owns and operates EVO.
“If you’re interested in running major events like EVO, RTS is a great place to start,” the spokesperson said. “Visit RTS.GG to learn more about opportunities in event production and esports.”
For those interested in working directly in the gaming industry, the spokesperson emphasized that game development extends far beyond programming.
“Game publishers aren’t just looking for people who write code,” the spokesperson said. “They also need professionals in marketing, sales, communications, operations, and many other areas. There are a wide variety of careers available within gaming.”
Content creation has also become one of the fastest-growing avenues into the industry.
“The creator economy continues to expand,” the spokesperson added. “Whether it’s streaming, producing videos, covering events, or building a community online, content creation has become another legitimate pathway into esports.”
Students interested in pursuing a formal education in gaming were also encouraged to explore esports degree programs.
The spokesperson highlighted Gen.G, an esports organization that operates the Gen.G Global Academy in South Korea and has partnered with universities including Arizona State University and Syracuse University to offer esports and gaming management programs.
“These programs help students learn about the many career opportunities available throughout the esports and gaming industry,” the spokesperson said.
EVO’s global presence continues to expand as well.
The organization recently concluded EVO Japan in May and is currently hosting its flagship event in Las Vegas. Next, EVO will head to France from October 8–10, while additional details about its Singapore event in 2027 are expected to be announced during Sunday’s festivities.
As esports continues to grow around the world, EVO remains one of the industry’s premier events, showcasing not only elite competition but also the expanding career opportunities available throughout the gaming ecosystem.
