Battle for Vegas announced time change for Fan Fest

The Battle for Vegas hosted by Reilly Smith announces its collaboration with the Las Vegas Grand Prix Foundation, the philanthropic organization of the FORMULA 1 HEINEKEN SILVER LAS VEGAS GRAND PRIX, for the event’s Home Run Derby on July 22 at Las Vegas Ballpark®.

“The Las Vegas Grand Prix Foundation is proud to support Battle for Vegas this year, and to recognize the great work of the Public Education Foundation,” said Pilar Harris, Senior Director of CSR and Government Relations for Las Vegas Grand Prix, Inc. “We’ve worked hard to ingrain and align ourselves with the local sports community and feel this partnership is a natural fit.”

The softball showdown, now in its fourth year, features two all-star teams of professional athletes, led by Reilly Smith of the Vegas Golden Knights and his teammates versus friends from the Las Vegas Raiders. The full roster of players will be announced soon.

Battle for Vegas time change

The Home Run Derby will now start at 7 p.m., followed by the opening pitch at 8 p.m. Fireworks will then follow the game at 9:30 p.m.

Event organizers also adjusted Fan Fest to run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.

A flyover is planned with special appearances by mascots Chance, Spruce the Goose, Aviator and others.

Battle for Vegas launched in 2019 and has raised over $550,000 for deserving local nonprofits. This year’s Battle for Vegas will benefit the Vegas Golden Knights Foundation with funds distributed to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Nevada and The Public Education Foundation.

“The Public Education Foundation is honored to be one of beneficiaries of Battle for Vegas this year,” said Public Education Foundation CEO Rich Broome. “This investment in the PEF Teacher Superstore will provide our most under-resourced students with school supplies through the teachers who know their needs best. Special thanks to Las Vegas Grand Prix, Inc. for its commitment to the community and for recognizing heroes worldwide, including our teachers here in Southern Nevada.”

New for 2023 is a Battle for Vegas Fan Fest event which takes place on Friday and Saturday, July 21 and 22 at Downtown Summerlin. The Fan Fest will feature family-friendly interactive games, plus food, drinks and autograph signings from players. Las Vegas Grand Prix, Inc. will also have a presence at Fan Fest with special photo opportunities, giveaways and more.
