UFC 241 Recap

Malik Ricks

Ufc 241 was nothing less than amazing, action-packed from the start to the finish. Here a recap of what happened last Saturday night.

Derek Brunson vs Ian Heinisch

Both fighters came into the fight confident. The fight almost ended early with Heinisch landing a huge head kick that rocked Brunson. With a very fast pace, Heinisch controlled the first round. But all in all Brunson wrestling was too much for Heinisch. Controlling the second and third rounds Derek Brunson won this fight in by unanimous decision.

Sofia Yusuff vs Gabriel Benítez

This was my favorite fight of the card. Both fighters came out throwing huge bombs. Yusuff cut Benítez right above the left eye during the exchange and out of nowhere, Benítez dropped Yusuff with a straight left hand. After recovering from the knockdown, Yusuff came back and won the fight off a counter right hand dropping Benítez ultimately winning the fight in TKO

Yoel Romero vs Paulo Costa

Just like the previous fight Romero and Costa came out on fire. With both fighters threw and landed huge punches fighters exchanged knockdowns. In the second round I though Costa controlled the round being the aggressor coming forward. Going into the third round both fighters seemed very tired but it didn’t stop them. For an action-packed fight with a close decision, Paulo Costa won this fight by unanimous decision. The crowd didn’t seem too pleased with the understandable decision and honestly, I wouldn’t mind seeing these two have a second fight.

Anthony Pettis vs Nate Diaz

With a three-year layoff, Nate Diaz looked like he didn’t miss a beat. Controlling the fight with his pressure Anthony Pettis just really couldn’t get anything going for him. Early in the third round, Nate dropped Pettis with a fury of punches almost ending the fight. With a dominating, the fight Nate Diaz won in a unanimous decision.

Daniel Cormier vs Stipe Miocic

To start round one Daniel Cormier completely dominated. Throwing incredible strikes and picking Stipe up slamming him for the takedown controlling the entire first round. Coming into the second round Daniel Cormier wasn’t respecting Stipe power walking into some powerful uppercuts and straight punches. But that didn’t stop DC just outboxing Stipe for the rest of the round. Through the third round, nothing much changed Cormier continued to put pressure on Stipe. But the fourth round is what determined the fight, Stipe came in boxing from the outside landing some beautiful shot to the body. Which ultimately set him on for the win, landing a straight right hand dropping Daniel Cormier and winning by TKO.

In conclusion, this Pay-Per-View was amazing and could be in the running for Pay-Per-View of the year. Make sure you tune into UFC 242 on September 7 where Khabib Nurmagomedov will take on Dustin Poirier.
