A woman and a 5-year-old boy drowned in the backyard pool of former Major League Baseball star Carl Crawford.
According to the Houston Chronicle, police were called Saturday afternoon for a reported drowning at the north Houston home. Property and business records list Crawford as the owner.
A Houston police spokeswoman said that the boy was swimming when he began having trouble breathing. The woman then jumped in the pool to save him. Both were unresponsive when police arrived. They were both declared dead at a local hospital.
No other details were made available.
Carl Crawford, 38, is a four-time All-Star outfielder who spent time with the Tampa Bay Rays, Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers. He is a Houston native who also also won a Gold Glove and four times led the American League in stolen bases for the season.
