Atlanta-Great food, good conversation, and many athletes that came to support the Taste of the NFL. The Taste of the NFL was founded by Wayne Kostroski in 1992 during Super Bowl XXVI. The event is held usually on a Saturday before the big game.
“This is where we can show off our work and let the people tell us how good our food was. This event has grown over the last decade and it keeps growing. They didn’t nickname this event “Party for a Reason” for nothing,” said one of the chefs.
The reason why the tickets were $700 dollars was the fact that people in attendance enjoyed an unlimited supply of sampled food, drinks, desserts, and had a chance to listen to Country music star Martina McBride in a live performance. “McBride is a legend to some of the fans out here and it was a really good show that she put on. I love her music and what special way to end the night with a live performance by a woman who is talented and brings out the smiles in a good way, ” said an anonymous source.
The funds raised from the event and season-long Kick Hunger Challenge resulted in approximately one million meals to food banks in each of the 32 NFL team cities. This year’s star-studded fundraising event featured ESPN hosts’ Suzy Kolber and Sage Steele, along with other notable guests, including TV personalities Andrew Zimmern and Adam Richman, NFL alum Will Allen, as well as Pro Football Hall of Famers Morton Andersen, Jack Youngblood, and Chris Doleman, amongst others.
“Since 1992, the organization has rallied the country’s top chefs and the NFL’s greatest players to raise money in support of food banks throughout the United States. 1 out of 6 people in this country struggle with hunger – many of them are children and seniors. To date, Taste of the NFL’s programs and events have raised and donated in excess of $26 million to food banks and non-profit organizations in the 32 NFL cities, resulting in more than 220 million new meals for Americans in need.”
