T.J. Otzelberger: “I thought our effort defensively was really good.”

“I was pleased with our first win at UNLV.” -T.J. Otzelberger

Final score UNLV 86, Purdue Fort Wayne 71.

The crowd. As excited as they’ve been in a while, to say the least. Yet the attendance, didn’t do it’s justice. That did not stop new UNLV head coach T.J. Otzelberger from showing off his shiny new recruits that sure can shoot. The one that sticks out the most is new shooting guard Jonah Antonio, Originally from Perth, Australia, the shooting guard was the first UNLV signee for T.J. Otzelberger. Tonight he showed why. And trust me, he did not disappoint. The Junior guard scored 17 points as he shot 5 of 9 from 3-point range. As UNLV went on to defeat Purdue Fort Wayne 86-71. And for you bettors out there, yes UNLV covered the spread which closed at -11.5. Next up for UNLV is a very good Big 12 team in Kansas State which took care of their first opponent North Dakota St 67-54. That game will be this coming Saturday in Las Vegas at 1pm at the Thomas and Mack Center.
