The Raiders are signing RB Peyton Barber off the Washington Redskins practice squad. Barber is a five-year NFL veteran back who has played for the Washington Football Team and the Buccaneers.

Barber had been in training camp with the Washington Football Team, but was cut on Tuesday as teams needed to get to the 52-man roster limit. He was signed to the practice squad the next day.

NFL teams can sign any player off any other team’s practice squad.

RB Peyton Barber will provide depth

Barber rushed 94 times last season with the Redskins, compiling 258 yards and four touchdowns. For his career, Barber has rushed for 2,245 yards on 645 carries with 19 touchdowns. He has also caught 61 passes for 361 yards and two touchdowns.

The Raiders have been down to only two healthy running backs in Josh Jacobs and Kenyan Drake. Jalen Richard also made the team, but was placed on the injured list with a foot injury.

The Raiders have running backs Trey Ragas and B.J. Emmons on their practice squad, and both took the bulk of the preseason snaps. Ragas scored two touchdowns during the three preseason games. Emmons had a touchdown as well.
