In an abbreviated radio show (due to an early Los Angeles Dodgers start), Raiders president Marc Badain and US Bookmaking’s Robert Walker joined us.
Oakland Raiders president Marc Badain joins the Silver and Black Today on CBS Sports Radio 1140 to discuss the scope of the team’s community work in its soon-to-be new home of Las Vegas. Badain also talks about the progress early on with the construction of the team’s new $1.8 billion stadium just off the famed Las Vegas Strip.
The team also previews OTAs and focuses in on some of the more interesting position battles heating up for training camp later this summer. Matt Gutierrez leads a discussion about the Raiders running back situation which leads to a heated discussion about Doug Martin.
The show closes with an in-depth look at the US Supreme Court’s decision on sports betting as US Bookmaking’s Robert Walker joins us live on the newsmaker line. Walker breaks down what fans can expect and how the thought sports betting will be up and running nationally for the NFL season just isn’t realistic. He also talks about the possibility of the Raiders new stadium having an in-venue sports betting parlor.
Walker told the team sports betting in the US will take a while to get up and running and to expect just 4-5 states to be active going into the 2018 NFL season. He believes the ability for fans to bet the game from their seats, via a mobile device, will change betting forever and will be the key to in-play bets. This would include being able to bet on players and even specific drives during the course of an NFL game.
