It’s just 12 weeks until Week 1 of the 2018 NFL season and six weeks until the Oakland Raiders head to training camp in Napa, Calif. We take a closer look at minicamp this past week and explore the stout Raiders offensive line.
As the Oakland Raiders break from minicamp, the Silver and Black Today team breaks down the top takeaways from last week. We also discuss what surprised us and what went as expected as Jon Gruden continues to change the culture in Alameda.
Pro Football Focus‘ Austin Gayle joins us to discuss why the Raiders offensive line is so dominant. Gayle ranked the best offensive linemen in the NFL – by run and pass – and he tells us how PFF evaluated them. Gayle also discusses the two Raiders who made his list in center Rodney Hudson and left tackle Donald Penn. He also had extremely high praise for Kelechie Osemele who he calls a hidden gem.
#Raiders' Donald Penn earned the lowest run-block success percentage of his OAK career (2014-17) at 13.6 percent last season…
And he still ranked second among qualifying OTs in RBS % in 2017. Even at his worst, he's among the best in the NFL.

All agreed that Hudson is the guy who keeps the offensive line churing along and how good the relationship is between him and Derek Carr. We dive deeper into the offensive line and hear from Gruden on how the group is doing. We also discuss the team drafting more talent for the offensive line in 2018 and what that means for the future.
