“This is going to be a very big step up for me. He has a lot more experience than I do, but I want to prove myself.” Michael Hunter
New York, NY- Michael “The Bounty” Hunter II (17-1, 12 KOs) will look to continue to climb the heavyweight ranks when he takes on undefeated Russian Sergey Kuzmin (15-0, 11 KOs) for the World Boxing Association’s Inter-Continental Heavyweight Title in a heavyweight bout that is sure to be an entertaining affair on the undercard of the action-packed Matchroom Boxing card streaming live exclusively from the Theater in Madison Square Garden this Saturday, September 13th.
Although he recently moved up from cruiserweight and often steps into the ring with a size disadvantage agains his opponents, the once-beaten Hunter (his lone loss coming to former cruiserweight kingpin Oleksandr Usyk) is no stranger to overcoming long odds against more experienced eastern European fighters: “This is going to be a very big step up for me being in the heavyweight division. He has a lot more experience than I do,” said the 31-year-old veteran of 18 professional fights.
“I took this fight knowing this, but I want to prove myself. I try to challenge myself to the highest degree. He has over 200 amateur fights. I’m very prepared and can’t wait for the night to come.”
