Maximum Security Disqualified, Country Horse wins Kentucky Derby

Kentucky- From start, to finish the Kentucky Derby was anybody’s race, but at the end of the race, there was a controversial call that changed Kentucky Derby history.

Maximum Security was disqualified after a slight bump coming into a turn to another horse and was Country Horse who finished second before the call was crowned Kentucky Derby champion. Maximum Security becomes the first horse to get disqualified after crossing the finish line first.

With a 65-1 chance of being victorious, Country Horse pulled off the upset by default. A lot of fans felt like Maximum Security was robbed, but the officials had to make the call and they were right on it. It was the first Derby win for both Prat and trainer Bill Mott.
