Lakers organization raises over 500,000 for Lakers’Youth foundation

Los Angeles- The Los Angles Lakers raised over 500,000 for their youth foundation in a charity golf tournament that was played earlier this week.

Players, coaches, and celebrities that attended the charity event were very impressed that so many people donated to the youth program. This was the largest contribution in over twenty years for the Lakers’ Youth Organization. Alongside future golfing events, the organization has a number of other exciting fundraising opportunities planned for the rest of the year and is currently looking into additional online fundraising efforts through websites like GoFundMe.

“This was a record-setting year for us, raising more funds than ever before in the 29-year history of the Lakers Golf Tournament,” said Kiesha Nix, Executive Director of the Lakers Youth Foundation. “These funds are used to directly support the great work and programming we provide through the Lakers Youth Foundation with children in the underserved communities around Los Angeles. We are very grateful to all of our sponsors, participants, volunteers and the entire Lakers Family who helped to make this such a successful event.”

The Lakers started their youth foundation in 1992 and it has grown over the years. The main focus with the program is to give underprivileged youth a chance to be successful, whether it is through academics or helping them out with inspiring messages and showing the youth that they will be there to support them the entire way.

The Lakers Youth Foundation in the past has funded a school teaching garden, 15 Lakers Reading & Learning Centers, three STEM Lab Projects and 40+ basketball courts throughout Los Angeles and Hawaii.

Success has to start from somewhere and the Lakers’ organization has been proud that they had a hand with helping out the youth on their way with becoming successful men and women.
