The short-lived, and mostly misunderstood, saga that was the contract negotiations between the Raiders and long-time kicker Sebastian Janikowski, came to an end today with the 17-year veteran agreeing to a deal lowering his salary from $4.05M per season to just above $3M.
Though Janikowski has been nursing a back injury during the entire preseason, he is expected to see the field in the team’s opening road game in Nashville against the Titans this weekend.
Sea Bass has amassed a whopping 1,799 points in his career and has converted on over 80% of his career field goal attempts. He has the Raiders team record for games played (268) and tenure (17 yrs).
In 2011, Janikowski tied the record for longest field goal in a game when he booted a 63-yard score in Denver. He also holds the NFL record for most field goals over 50 yards with 55.
