Oakland- Jon Gruden and General Manager Mike Mayock sent their scouts away for the weekend in fear of having information leaked out about the players they have a strong interest in drafting.
Gruden and Mayock want their draft selections to be sealed and so that is why they felt the need to make sure that few knew who they are were going to pick. This is a unique situation because now how will the Raiders’ personnel feel about their coach and GM not trusting their scouts with keeping their lips shut. Will it hinder the communication and trust aspect with moving forward or will there be some type of internal conflict within the organization.
Mayock is under a lot of pressure because Gruden told him that he gave him some picks, so don’t mess it up.”The way I look at this thing from a how-do-people-perceive-me perspective is a lot of people doubted that anybody could come out of the media and go and be a GM for any team,” said Mayock. “I know that. I get that.
“But at the end of the day, here’s the deal, if we win, everything will be fine and if we lose, I’ll get fired. I’m perfectly fine with that.”
The Raiders will have three first-round picks (Nos. 4, 24 and 27), so there is a lot of pressure building before the NFL Draft. The Draft will start at 7 pm on April 25th and end April 27th, 2019.
