Dallas – Andre Emmett, who starred for the Texas Tech Red Raiders basketball team under legendary coach Bob Knight before being Drafted with the 36th overall pick in the 2004 NBA Draft, was tragically shot and killed on Monday in his hometown of Dallas, Vegas Sports Daily has learned.
Emmett was a consensus All-American selection in 2004, and played a pair of seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies and New Jersey Nets before enjoying a long and successful career overseas.
Most recently, Emmett took his talents to the Big3, where he was the League’s second-leading scorer and an MVP candidate while playing for 3’s Company. He leaves behind a young daughter.
The Dallas Police Department indicated that their investigation into Emmett’s death is ongoing, and released but released no further information. Our condolences, thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this tragic and trying time.
