VEGAS (October 18, 2018) — The Las Vegas Lights FC registered maybe its most impressive victory of the 2018 season in its home finale last Wednesday against one of the USL Western Conference’s top teams.
After the 5-2 triumph over Phoenix Rising FC and another strong showing in a tough loss Saturday night on the road at Sacramento Republic FC, some individual honors rolled in on Tuesday.
Defender Carter Manley was named to the final USL Team of the Week Starting XI of the regular season.
Over the course of two matches in the season’s final week, Manley recorded nine interceptions, eight defensive clearances and won seven of 10 duels. He also earned the penalty kick which equalized the match with Phoenix in the first half.
Manley joined the club during the season on loan from Major League Soccer’s Minnesota United FC. A first round pick in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft, Manley made eight appearances and five starts for Lights FC, including starting both matches in the season’s final week.
Forward Sammy Ochoa, who scored his eighth goal of the 2018 season with a beautiful scissor kick in the win against Phoenix, was named to the 7-man Team of the Week bench.
