Dearica Hamby Agrees to Re-Sign with Aces

Dearica Hamby, Re-sign with Las Vegas Aces, WNBA Free Agency

“We are happy to have Dearica back in the fold,” said Laimbeer. “She has proven over the years that she is a quality contributor in the WNBA, and we believe that as she continues to work on her game, she will become even more of a force.”

Dearica Hamby has extended her stay with the Las Vegas Aces after agreeing to a new contract Friday. The team announced on Friday that Hamby will return to play for Las Vegas.

Hamby confirmed she was re-signing on Twitter:

Hamby was a restricted free agent this year and eligible to sign an offer sheet with other teams, but the Aces apparently presented their forward with an offer too enticing to pass up.

Retaining Dearica is the first step in Las Vegas’ plan for its next phase under head coach Bill Laimbeer.

Las Vegas Aces President of Basketball Operations and Head Coach Bill Laimbeer announced today that the team has re-signed forward Dearica Hamby.

Aces will make it a priority to re-sign Dearica Hamby.

Hamby was one of the Aces key reserves in 2018, and has consistently improved her production in each of her four years in the league.

Last season, she averaged 7.4 points, while connecting on a career-best 52.6 percent of her shots from the field and 74.2 percent from the free throw line. Hamby also grabbed 3.6 rebounds per game, and handed out a career-high 1.2 assists per contest.

The Wake Forest graduate scored in double figures on 12 occasions in 2018, including a career-high 24 at Chicago on June 3, where she made 11 of 13 shots from the field.

If the Aces are going to navigate into playoff contention in the near future, Hamby figures to be a significant part of the equation.
