Tuesday’s matinee showed Dallas at their best and Los Angeles at their worst. Everything that could go wrong for LA did go wrong, and the Wings reaped the benefits. Dallas broke their 2 game losing streaking with a 74-62 victory.

Coming out of their mostly one sided skirmish Dallas looked really good against one of the W’s most talented teams. They matched with size, intensity, and Brian Agler flexed the muscles that made him one of the longest-tenured coaches in league history.

As well as all of that sounds LA did themselves a number in the turnover the department. The Sparks totaled 21 turnovers many curtesy of bad reads and 12 Dallas steals.

Dallas’ defense made out like bandits gaining several possessions the Sparks needed to mount their comeback. Their defense didn’t stop there, they racked up all the counting defensive stats you could ask for. They tied a season high 6 blocks tying Imani McGee Stanford and Isabelle Harrison with 2 blocks apiece.

Harrison truly stood out tonight without scoring the ball. The amount of energy she’s displayed in the games she’s played since returning from a concussion has been transformational for the Wings at times. She’s easily one of the most athletic players on the roster and it shows. She’s able to guard 1-5 in spurts and that’s exactly what she did when collecting a block on Alana Beard and Nneka Ogwumike.

For added measure Kayla Thornton packed on 10 points in the fourth quarter to seal this game. Thornton turned her shooting woes around to make this victory sweeter. When she’s the complete two way star she can be the Wings are a dangerous team.

On the wing, Dallas guards held many of the Spark’s guards well below their averages. The icing on the cake the backcourt forced Chelsea Gray into a season high 6 turnovers. They jumped passing lanes and pressured LA’s backcourt into bad passes leading to Glory Johnson and Harrison’s combined 7 steals.

The versatility of this team oozes on the defensive end and when they’re clicking, they look dominant. Dallas continues to rise to the occasion in big opportunities and home games once that translates to toad games the league is in trouble.
