Catch 22 Puts Soul in Seafood


Washington D.C.-There’s one thing the nation’s capital does well and that’s good ol’ comfort food brunch. You’ll find Brightwood neighborhood’s latest addition maintains the status quo.

Catch 22 is a comfort seafood restaurant inspired by the same Southern style as Milk and Honey. Food Network “Chopped” winner, Chef Sammy Davis, and partner Monique Rose, co-owner of the coveted Milk and Honey CafĂ© came together to create Cajun and Creole fixings.

At a private tasting event, January 11, 2019, Chef Sammy Davis and Monique Rose could be seen at their live cooking station cranking out creamy lobster and crab stuffed ravioli straight from the saucepan to the small plate for guests. Other irresistible bites included fresh, warm truffle bread, glazed salmon skewers, crab cake meatballs, and jerk lamb lollipops with garlic soy sauce. Seafood is loved from coast to coast but perhaps has become most representative of the diet of San Franciscans who have developed a particular penchant for the iconic Dungeness crab. Specialty drinks like Mango Mimosa and Sea Breeze, a mixture of Bacardi and Cran-grapefruit juice were refreshing hits at the open bar. The buzzing atmosphere along with the never-ending flow of food and drinks made it clear Catch 22 is a must-do venue for private events or small gatherings.

Impressively, the owners were not too distracted by high profile guests like council members and Real Housewives of Potomac stars to get behind the bar and serve cocktails. Such a hands-on gesture, proved Chef Davis and Rose have an intimate desire to connect with each guest.

The flavors, the service, and sophisticated environment are enough to flatter any first-timer into a second visit.
