Broncos Backup Quarterback Chad Kelly Arrested

Vegas- Denver Broncos backup Quarterback Chad Kelly was apprehended and jailed earlier today on suspicion of a first-degree criminal trespass, which is a class 5 felony.

According to the police report, the victims told police that a stranger came into their home after 1 a.m. The man yelled at the intruder to get out and hit him in the back with a vacuum tube. Police surveillance video showed a man wearing dark pants, a white long-sleeved shirt with a brown vest and a red scarf around his neck entering the front door.

The victims identified Kelly in a line-up after he was processed in the system.

Law enforcement is looking into this incident, as well as the Broncos organization. “We are very, very disappointed in Chad,” president of football operations/general manager John Elway told Broncos radio station Orange and Blue 760. “When the team has a get-together, that’s always a good thing. And the camaraderie that goes along with being a team … One person put a dent in it. We are going to look into this. The charges are very, very serious.”

Just this past weekend Kelly received a lot of praise for his hard work, determination, and positive spirit that had Vance Joseph saying that he would want Kelly to be there if anything was to happen to Case Keenum.

I would hope so, he’s our backup,” Joseph said. “He won that job fair and square. So, if he had to play for us, if you’re playing your backup quarterback, you’re playing different anyway. You’re running the ball more, maybe, using more concepts that he’s good at. So, we’ll see. It hasn’t happened yet, but if he had to play, I would trust Chad to play for us.”

This investigation will be a lengthy process, so it will be interesting to see if Chad does get convicted, what other consequences will he face with the NFL.
