“We played with the level of intensity necessary to compete. You can’t win three (games) until you win one.” -Bill Laimbeer
Las Vegas- The Las Vegas Aces faced with a “win or go home” scenario, got one of the most impressive performances of the year from their trio of All-Stars and dominated the Washington Mystics to the tune of a 92-75 win in Game 3 of their WNBA Semifinals series.

The Aces trio of Liz Cambage, Kayla McBride, and A’ja Wilson poured in a combined 67 points and completely outplayed the Mystics’ frontcourt. Cambage, in particular, was virtually unstoppable, as she accounted for 28 points on 12-for-15 shooting from the field, saying after the game that “their only answer, is to foul me.” Her point seemed to have merit, as on one 2nd Half play in particular Washington guard Kristi Toliver appeared to give the All-Star center a shove in the back after a shot attempt, which prompted the Aussie pivot to get in the face of the Mystics’ perennial All-Star guard to voice her displeasure.
Following the game, Toliver attempted to downplay the little skirmish as par for the course with playoff basketball, saying “We’ve done that all year long. She wanted to have a little attitude, throwing a little temper tantrum… but it’s fun to be chippy, it’s fun to have that edge.”
Cambage’s frontcourt mates Wilson and McBride also turned in arguably their best postseason performances to date as they each shot the ball efficiently in the win, with Wilson’s 21 points on 8-for-14 shooting, and McBride’s 6-for-11, including 3-for-5 from long distance, being well over 50% for the game. Superstar sixth woman of the year Dearica Hamby also did her part, chipping in with 10 points off the bench.
Game 4 of the best-of-five WNBA Semifinals series is scheduled for Tuesday at the Mandalay Bay Events Center. The exact time of Tuesday’s game is still to be determined by the WNBA.
