Jackie Young: Aces’ star ready for WNBA season opener

LAS VEGAS— Las Vegas Aces guard Jackie Young is poised to make a significant impact this season, thanks to her experience playing in the Unrivaled basketball league. Young’s time in Unrivaled allowed her to test her skills against top-tier competition, refine her game, and develop a stronger sense of self-assurance.

During her stint with the Laces in Unrivaled, Young averaged 15.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 3 assists per game. Her standout performances, including a 27-point game and multiple outings with 4+ assists, demonstrated her ability to dominate on the court and make an impact on her team.

When asked about her experience in Miami, Young jokingly attributed her success to the sun, saying, “I guess it was the sun in Miami.”

Young’s stats from last season support her growing confidence. She averaged 15.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game, showcasing her versatility and scoring prowess. Her ability to create for herself and others has made her a key contributor to the Aces’ success.

In the preseason, Young showcased her skills in games against the Dallas Wings and Phoenix Mercury. Notably, she posted impressive stats, including 28 points, 5 rebounds, and 9 assists against the Wings, and 10 points, 2 steals, and 2 blocks against the Mercury.

The Aces will open their season on May 17, traveling to face the New York Liberty, the defending WNBA champions. With Young’s newfound confidence and refined skills, she is poised to make a significant impact for the Aces this season.
